A charity fundraiser who battled back from injury to take part in last year’s London Marathon will take part in the Edinburgh Marathon this weekend.
Andy Sharpe, of Ben Rhydding, will tackle the 26.2- mile course in Edinburgh this Sunday, raising money for children’s cancer charity Clic Sargent.
His fundraising already stands at £1,230 but he hopes to bring his combined fundraising total from the two marathons to £5,000.
Among those supporting him are two local men who run an indoor football league. They recently donated their profits to Mr Sharpe’s charity fundraising.
Mr Sharpe recovered from knee surgery last year in time to run the London Marathon and says a major inspiration for him is his sister, student Becky Sharpe, who has herself suffered two years of knee problems after tearing a ligament.
He said: “Her positive approach to life is incredible and I know completing the marathon will make her very proud of her big brother.”
