A charity that helps to rescue German Shepherd dogs will hold an awareness event in Guiseley this weekend.
Volunteers will be outside Pets at Home to talk about their work on Sunday.
German Shepherd Dog Rescue is holding a series of events around the region, supported by the pet shop chain, which is holding a fundraising raffle.
A spokesman for the charity said: “We will have a very friendly German Shepherd dog with us. He will be a rescue. He will have been neglected, starved and maybe abused and yet he will show nothing but love for humans. These dogs are amazing and that’s why we do what we do every week for them. Please come and see us.”
The charity says thousands of healthy dogs are put to sleep each year in the UK because of over-breeding.
The spokesman said: “All breeds are having a real tough time at the moment so we do our best to guide folk towards a rescue dog instead of encouraging back-street breeders.”
