A group which campaigned to save a Ben Rhydding pub has made a donation from its funds to local scouts.
Save Us Pub (SUP), originally set up to fight plans to turn the Wheatley Hotel into houses, presented a donation to Ben Rhydding Scouts and has pledged to donate the proceeds from its beer tent at this year’s Ben Rhydding Community Fete.
In previous years, SUP has supported Marie Curie by sponsoring cycle rides by local people. The Fete takes place on the June 21 this year, from 2pm to 4 pm, on Wheatley Fields. The Scouts put up the tents at the event and it is partly in recognition of this contribution that SUP chose to support them this year.
The Scouts’ new headquarters is currently being built, off Wheatley Lane, aided by funding from the local community.
