THE owners of the Dyneley Arms pub are appealing for help from readers of this newspaper in their bid to restore the building to its original glory.

As we reported last week, restoration work is under way at the inn, which sits on the Leeds Road /Pool Bank New Road crossroads near Bramhope and was gutted by a fire four years ago last September.

Now brewery Samuel Smith, which owns the pub, is hoping readers can help it recreate as accurately as possible the look of the old farmhouse that was converted into licensed premises back in the mid 1800s.

A spokesman for the company said: "We've been speaking to the architects in charge of the work and they've suggested we ask if any of your readers have old photographs of the pub, which we'd very much like to see.

"Because we're very keen to restore it to how it was originally and when we do these refurbishments, which in this case is practically a rebuild, we always try to do as much research as possible to get it spot on.

"So if anyone has an old photo and could let us see it, or a copy, we'd be very grateful."

Anybody who thinks they can help can contact Samuel Smith on (01937) 839201 and ask for the press office.
