A RECORD crowd cheered along 2,500 yellow plastic ducks as they raced down the River Wharfe to raise money for a village's annual festive lights.
People gathered by the river at Burley-in-Wharfedale on Sunday (June 1) to watch the annual Burley Duck Race.
Villagers bought tickets corresponding to a number on the underside of each duck, and the winners will receive prizes.
Due to the impending World Cup in Brazil and the Tour de France visit, organiser, Tom Sumner, held the annual race a month earlier this year.
Sunny weather attracted a big turnout of villagers for the spectacle.
Orgabnisers thanked all the volunteers, who helped raise funds for the Burley Christmas Lights
The winning ticket numbers were: 1st 660; 2nd 1033; 3rd 1658.
About 2,000 tickets, priced at £1 each, are thought to have been sold for the race.
