ART students at Ilkley Grammar School have taken part in a unique project at the National Railway Museum in York.

Members of the school's year 7 Art Club contributed to the Big Picture - a 4.5 metre by 6.6 metre piece of work made up of 345 individual pieces.

All pieces of work have been made by primary or secondary schools from across Northern Rail's network.

Ilkley students travelled to York by train and were given a tour of the National Railway Museum, including a look inside an Edwardian train that once went from London to Devon.

The ceremony, to unveil the picture, was attended by Yorkshire artist Ashley Jackson.

Students, Lucy Burnhill, Laura Scarlett, Elise Johnson and Molly Harper said they had a very good time.

"We felt very important and were looked after so well. It was a great day out."
