Kathryn Wheelock, Otley and District Riding for the Disabled Association's Irish international para-equestrian, took part in the Manor Grange Stud affiliated British Dressage competition last week and came away with one first and one second place rosette.

In class E44 she beat all the able-bodied riders to achieve 64 per cent.

The next day Kathryn was back in training with the rest of the Yorkshire and Cleveland RDA's Regional Dressage Squad at Middleton Park Equestrian Centre.

Under coach Cathy Burrell, she worked on counter canter and shallow loops in canter to ensure that her horse, Indi, doesn't change legs and put in flying changes when not supposed to.

Other Otley and District RDA members who took part in the regional training session were Lynne Burnley, Elaine Button, Paul Kitchingman, Mandy Schofield and Bernadette Spellman.

Most lessons took place in open order and lasted about 45 minutes each. Many thanks to Middleton Park Equestrian Centre for the use of their horses and premises.
