A WHARFEDALE food shop and cafe is challenging pie lovers to a meaty challenge.
The Local Pantry, near Pool-in-Wharfedale, is inviting customers to try and polish off its Big Porker – a 1lb, locally produced pork pie served with mushy peas.
Anyone that succeeds will be rewarded with another pie to take home.
The challenge ties in with Celebrate British Pie Week, which runs until Sunday.
The Local Pantry’s owner, Suzannah Hepworth, said: “We sell more than 250 pork pies per week. Kendall’s Farm Butchers is a family-run business and has a fantastic reputation spanning 40 years.
“They pride themselves on provenance and quality and the delicious pies they supply are a firm favourite with our customers. If The Big Porker is a hit then it may even become a regular on the menu – I am definitely up for the challenge!”
The shop, in Harrogate Road between Huby and Pool, is also hosting a Pie Week Supper Club on Friday to mark the week-long celebration.
