A YOUTH association says it plans to press ahead with plans to build a sports hall, after learning that Ilkley’s Warehouse centre is safe from the latest local authority cuts.
Ilkley Youth and Community Association chairman, Cllr Martin Smith, says the organisation is seeking planning permission and funding to build a sports hall at the centre in Little Lane.
Cllr Smith said the youth of the town needed support and the building a sports hall would enhance their future prospects.
He said the Ilkley Youth and Community Association would now move forward with its project, which if it comes to fruition will see a sports hall built, of badminton and volleyball size. This will enable young people to train in these sports or use the facility for winter training.
IYCA will be seeking funding from many grants bodies, said Cllr Smith, but he admitted that it could be difficult unless the project is able to get local funding.
