ILKLEY Golf Club Captain, John Obank and Lady Captain, Heather Summers chose Outside the Box Cafe as a joint charity in their 2014 year of office.
Together they raised £4,169.30 and presented a cheque to Outside the Box directors, volunteers and members.
The money was raised by open days, captain’s charity days, raffles, fines for landing in the captain’s bunker on the 18th hole and general arm-twisting.
Outside the Box Cafe is on the corner of Bridge Lane and Church Street and is staffed by adults and young people with learning disabilities. The money raised by Ilkley Golf Club is being used to fund equipment for the newly formed Art Project.
John Obank said: “It is a fantastic example of fulfilling a genuine need in our community. We are proud to be associated with them.”
Anyone interested in supporting or getting involved in the cafe or the Art Project should contact Outside the Box on call 01943 431173 or email cafe@out sidetheboxcafe.com or outside theboxarthouse@gmail.com.
