A MUM whose impromptu Christmas craft creation led to a flood or orders from friends, is busy in the run-up to Mother’s Day.
Rachael Robinson, of Burley-in-Wharfedale, was inspired by her children to pull a white plate from a cupboard, and sit at her kitchen table with craft pens, creating a colourful personalised design, so the youngsters could leave a mince pie and carrot out for Santa and his reindeer.
She posted a photograph of the plate on Facebook, and was swiftly inundated with requests for orders.
Discovering a talent for her new hobby, she decided to donate all the proceeds from the sale of the decorated plates to Breast Cancer Care. Over Christmas 2014, she donated £700 to the cause.
“Following this success, and the fact that I have found a new hobby, I decided to continue as the orders kept rolling in,” said Rachael.
“Now, I provide a wide range of hand designed ceramics to customers all over the UK for all sorts of special events, and at least £1 from every plate sale goes to Breast Cancer Care.”
She has now also set up a website, rubyrosedesign.co.uk to promote her work.
