WEREWOLVES were spotted running wild in Otley last weekend as part of a spooky night race on Otley Chevin.
One hundred and forty people signed up to take part in the Night of the Werewolf on Saturday, February 28, but freezing weather saw the number running drop to 82.
Of those, 45 had come dressed as werewolves in a bid by the organisers Paul Shack and Michelle Smith for the event to create a new World Record. Mr Shack believes that has been achieved, and has now sent off the evidence to be scrutinised by Guinness.
He said: “We’d like to say a huge thank-you to our marshals: Jane and Andrew Tesseyman, Michelle Smith, Mel and Chris Metcalfe, Richard Haslett, Josh Robson, Toni-Lee Midgley, Chloe Reyner, Danny Foyle, Ian Swales, Adam Webb and Emma Cobb-Webb. Mel Metcalfe and her group raised £215 for Otley Lions, while Jane and Andrew raised £15 for Bliss and Toni-Lee Midgley raised £15 for her charity.”
The team prize was won by Baildon Runners while a fancy dress prize went to Neil Metcalfe – in recognition of his furry feet.
