WHARFEDALE and Aireborough residents are being warned to watch out for a ‘crime survey’ telephone scam.
A householder flagged up the issue with Cllr Barry Anderson (Con, Adel & Wharfedale) after being called by someone claiming to be conducting a crime questionnaire. The caller rang off after he was asked about his identity and who he represented.
Cllr Anderson has raised the matter with the Outer North-West Neighbourhood Policing Team, who say they are aware of no such survey.
They said: “We would imagine this is a cold call designed to obtain details from people so their details can then be sold on to relevant companies.
“The best advice is for no one to give any personal details over the phone to anyone.”
