RAINBOWS, Brownies, Guides and Rangers met up in Menston on Saturday to celebrate World Thinking Day.
Every year around February 22, members of The Guide Association celebrate the joint birthday of their founder and Chief Scout, Lord Baden Powell, and his wife Olave, the world’s first Chief Guide.
The celebration was a little late this year owing to the half term break, but 170 Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Rangers and their leaders from Burley and Menston gathered at Kirklands Community Centre, in Menston, to celebrate World Thinking Day. The girls made new friends and took part in a range of craft, cooking, and food tasting activities to learn about the countries of the United Kingdom.
Activities included making Welsh cakes, designing their own tartan, junk modelling, shrink art jewellery and trying scones and soda bread. Anyone who would like to volunteer with Girlguiding is asked to contact Sue Vint on (01943) 864515, or e-mail sue@gvint.co.uk, for Burley and Menston, or Ann Peacock on (01943) 600083 or ann.peacock1@btinternet.com for Ben Rhydding, Ilkley and Addingham.
