HORSFORTH Cricket Club is appealing for witnesses after being targeted by criminals for the second time in three months.
At least two vehicles are suspected of being used during a break-in to the club’s machinery store overnight on Monday.
They were driven through security fencing that had been put up for the new clubhouse and over the cricket field, at King George’s Playing Field, itself.
They then caused yet more destruction, as the club explained on its Facebook page.
It said: “The perpetrators ripped off the doors of the machinery containers using their vehicles before driving off, we believe, over the playing fields and on to Westbrook Lane.
“In the process they destroyed the main gate separating the cricket and football pitches.
“Again, the club has incurred a significant loss and with the cricket season five weeks away it also hampers efforts to carry out essential work on the ground.
“If anyone has seen anything, been offered any equipment or heard anything about this crime please contact West Yorkshire Police or the club.
“It is essential these people are stopped.”
The club can be contacted on (0113) 258 1246.
