A £70,000 scheme to upgrade part of Horsforth’s gas supply network has been announced by Northern Gas Networks to replace 500 metres of ageing metallic mains in the town centre with plastic pipes it says will be more durable.
The five-week project will start in Hall Park Close next Monday, and be carried out in phases to minimise disruption.
Phase two will involve another week’s worth of work on Kerry Hill and New Street, from Wednesday, while the final, three-week phase – for Kerry Street, Church Lane and Town Street – will begin on Monday, March 23.
Temporary two-way traffic lights will be in operation on Kerry Hill at its junction with New Street, for a week from March 18. Church Lane will also be closed, from the junction of Church Avenue and Town Street, for two weeks from March 30.
For enquiries call 0800 040 7766 (select option 7) between 8am and 10pm Monday to Friday, and from 9am to 5pm on Saturday.
