YOUNG dancers in Otley are celebrating achieving two top-three finishes in a major competition.
Teams from Prince Henry’s Grammar School took the runners-up spot in both the key stage three and four categories of this year’s Leeds School Dance Festival.
The key stage three group’s dance for pop hit Uptown Funk incorporated back-flips and cartwheels, while the key stage four team gave their routine lots of attitude to portray misbehaving schoolchildren.
The students worked with choreographers brought in by the Otley, Pool and Bramhope Cluster, using funding from activities co-ordinator Katherine Robertshaw. Cluster manager and assistant headteacher at Prince Henry’s, Phil Temple, said: “One of the students said afterwards that she had never won anything before and was so proud.”
