THE SEA takes centre stage in a new exhibition that has opened in Otley.
The Yorkshire Collection, at The Old Grammar School Gallery, features dramatic coastal and wildlife paintings by Hartlepool-born artist Sue Nichol.
The exhibition runs until the end of April and gallery owner Zack Whitehead is confident visitors will be impressed by what they see.
He said: “Many regular customers will be familiar with Sue’s work but you’re in for a treat with this show.
“It features some typically stunning coastal paintings and also some great animal and still life images – the body of work shown together will make great viewing.”
The artist herself, writing on her website, said: “My paintings are of places I know very well and visit over and over again, both literally and imaginatively.
“I am attracted to the ‘edges of the land’, including our fabulous and varied coastline as well as the rocky edges to be found throughout the British landscape.
“I hope my viewers are able to uncover in my work some of the magic I feel in the places I am inspired to paint.”
A ‘meet the artist’ day will be held at the gallery on Saturday, March 21, from noon to 4pm, when Sue will chat to visitors and also give a small talk about the exhibition.
