LEEDS City Council is being urged to seek new funding to sort out parking problems at Horsforth railway station.
The Government said last week that £60 million was to be made available nationwide to fund improvements to rail station facilities.
Councillors Brian Cleasby and Chris Townsley (both Lib Dem, Horsforth) say that presents a golden opportunity for more parking places near Horsforth station, to tackle a long-running issue.
Cllr Cleasby said: “Following the great news about the millions in station improvement funding that the Government has released, we have spoken with senior officers at the council to really hit home how much Horsforth needs extra parking at the station.
“The residents ought to be able to park in front of their own homes again and commuters should be able to leave their cars safe in a car park instead of having to leave them on the streets.
“This situation needs sorting out now before it gets even worse.”
