YOUNG photographers are rising to the challenge set by Ilkley Camera Club.

Here are just some of the wonderful images submitted so far in the Young Photographers Competition which is running as part of the Club’s Creative Light Exhibition 2015 at Ilkley’s Manor House Museum.

Club Vice President, Peter Farmer, said: “We’ve been bowled over by quality and imagination shown in the images.

“The theme is Creative Light and the youngsters have responded really well to this.

“Not only have they gone outside and captured some wonderful effects from sunlight, but they have also been inventive with artificial light. We’ve had over 30 entries so far and the number continues to rise.

“These photographs prove that enthusiasm and creativity are at the heart of good photography. You can take a great picture with a simple camera and convey to the viewer the excitement and emotion of the scene.

“Of course, if your camera lets you take more control you can deal with tricky lighting situations or get more adventurous, perhaps adjusting the focus to make the subject stand out from the background.

“But the key to it all is whether the photographer can ‘see’ an image which people will love.”

The competition winner will receive a Panasonic Lumix Digital Bridge Camera.

“It’s worth £250 and has been generously donated by Annings of Ilkley, the local camera shop”, added Mr Farmer.

The deadline is March 31, so there is still time for budding photographers to submit their entries.

Anyone under the age of 17 at that date can enter the competition.

There are details on the club’s website and flyers at the Manor House Museum. Many of the entries are on show there alongside Ilkley Camera Club’s Exhibition of over 200 photographs by its own members.

The results will be announced at the Manor House on Sunday, April 12, which is the final day of the Creative Light Exhibition.
