FASHION made from recycled materials took to the catwalk at St Mary’s School in Menston as sixth formers took a close look at environmental and ethical issues.
Following its great success in previous years, St Mary’s recently held its creative ‘Trashion Show’.
Year 13 students came together for the annual event as part of their Catholic Religious Studies (CRS) programme.
The day began with a spiritual reflection which a representative from Cafod attended and spoke to the students regarding the charity’s environmental work oversees, as well as about how their actions impact the lives of others.
The students went on to discuss environmental issues and examine Catholic teachings surrounding the issues, before making clothing out of recycled materials.
The day concluded with the fashion show in which students modelled the clothing they had made from recycled materials such as crisp packets, bubble wrap and bin liners.
Staff were impressed with the way that the groups worked together throughout the day and with the fantastic outfits they produced.
