A LABOUR Parliamentary candidate has been banging the drum for Guiseley Music Centre.
Jamie Hanley, who is hoping to replace Conservative Stuart Andrew as the Pudsey constituency’s next MP in May, had a go on the instruments during a recent visit.
He said: “I couldn’t resist having a go on the drums at the fantastic Guiseley Music Centre – I am not sure how pleasing the noise was to everyone else’s ears, but I loved it!
“The centre has a great mix of students starting from age three and beyond, including many older adults.
“As well as teaching people to play a wide range of musical instruments, they provide a real nurturing environment in which talent and self-confidence is given the chance to flourish.
“In the face of significant funding cuts, it is vital that councils protect initiatives such as this which provide a great community benefit and encourage children to explore and develop new talents from a young age.
“Thank you to the centre’s team for inviting me – I had a great time.”
He also visited Horsforth Farmer’s Market and sampled a pint at Horsforth Beer Festival.
