THE CAMPAIGN to create an Otley lido is once again in the running to secure up to £25,000 of funding.
This is the third year that the Friends of Otley Lido, which wants to build a heated, open-air pool in Wharfemeadows Park, has reached the voting stages of the Aviva Community Fund.
The group has been working on plans to create a state-of-the-art facility - with a retractable roof - at the spot of Otley’s former outdoor pool since 2015.
The project needs more funding, however, to move to the next stage - and needs public support to have a chance of securing the Aviva funds.
Friends of Otley Lido committee Chair, Leonie Sharp, said: “We have spent the last two years doing everything we can to draw in funding and support for our project but need these funds to get us to the planning phase.
“To win this Aviva Community Funding would help us pay for the specialist firms we have commissioned through architects and associated professionals.
“These specialist are critical for us to pursue the larger funding we will need to make this possible.”
Votes to support the group’s bid can be cast up until November 20 at https://community-fund.aviva.co.uk/voting/project/view/4-1979.
