OTLEY Lions Club have helped sheltered housing residents celebrate the refurbishment of their building.
Leeds City Council completed a major revamp of Union Court, costing just over £2 million, last winter. Otley Lions visited more recently, at the end of May, to help residents celebrate their new-look homes.
Councillor Graham Kirkland had opened the original building in 1971 and his son, Jonathan, was pleased to return and honour his father’s memory as Lions President.
The event included afternoon tea, with sandwiches and cakes, followed by a sing-along performance from The White Rose Chorus Barber Shop Singers. A Lions spokesman declared the event a success and ‘a very enjoyable afternoon’.
