NEW cycle and scooter racks have been installed at an Otley school - thanks to the local Lions Club.
With more children travelling to school on two wheels than ever his year Westgate Primary School, on Scarborough Road, found that its existing cycle racks were inadequate.
So it appealed to Otley Lions for help and the club has responded by paying for extra racks to be bought and installed ahead of the new term in September.
The Lions are also supporting the school’s bid to replace their well used, but outdated, outside play area
The facility provides important safe play experience for the younger children who are attending Nursery, Early Years and the Foundation Stage.
The club’s immediate Past President, David McDowell, recently visited Westgate Primary to present a cheque for £1,000 towards the project to Headteacher Helen Carpenter.
