‘AN EXHILARATING fall to earth’.
That is how a retired police officer from Arthington has described his first skydive. Hugh Robinson completed the tandem jump on Yorkshire Day - Saturday, August 1 - with a team from SkydiveGB, at Bridlington.
Delighted with the experience, which has raised £2,322 for for Parkinson’s UK, he said: “I was strapped to instructor Simon once we had completed a safety briefing and instruction session.
“We climbed aboard the plane and were soon at 10,000 feet above Flamborough Head and the North Sea. We fell at over 100mph for 4,000 feet before Simon deployed the parachute and we slowed to a sedate floating speed. An exhilarating fall to earth!”
Hugh would like to thank everyone who donated to his JustGiving page, SkydiveGB, and Matt Gibson of Wharfe Valley Active - who provided a jump T-shirt and paid for the skydive to be filmed.
