BUSINESSES across the Shipley constituency - including Burley-in-Wharfedale and Menston - wanting to boost their export potential can get extra support to help them navigate the post-Brexit world.
The online event organised by Shipley MP Philip Davies and the Department for International Trade aims to support businesses grow international sales and will see experts on hand to explain changes to regulations following the UK’s split from Europe.
Mr Davies said: “Helping businesses across the constituency survive this pandemic is one of my top priorities. We need to do everything we can to support our local businesses so they can thrive and protect local jobs.
“Businesses have been dealt a tough blow with repeated lockdowns and I want to do everything I can to support them and get our economy going again. We have a lot of potential on our doorstep and I hope this event will be beneficial to businesses wanting to either grow their export opportunities or explore it for the first time.”
The webinar next month will see experienced exporters providing free advice to the businesses, including on government supported schemes to help export-related contracts and the practicalities of post-Brexit trade.
Mr Davies added: “The event will cater for businesses new to exporting through to current exporters and is open to anyone wanting to take part.”
Mr Davies is a founding member of the Parliamentary Export Programme where selected cross-party MPs organise and chair virtual meetings with experts from business and government.
The event is free but registration is required. To register for the event on March 5, visit https://www.events.great.gov.uk/parliamentary-export-programme
