THE Washburn Heritage Centre will celebrate its 10th anniversary this year with a month of celebrations in June. The Centre, in the stunning setting of Fewston Church and overlooking Swinsty Reservoir is a volunteer-led, high quality rural heritage centre, which continues to grow and improve. June events include talks, walks and exhibitions and a visit by the Lord-Lieutenant of North Yorkshire, Mrs Jo Ropner, who will present the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service (awarded in 2020) at a special evening to recognise the achievements of the volunteers. The Tea Room will be fully open with seated table service indoors. A spokesperson said: “Over the weekend of June 5 and 6 our lucky visitors will be able to enjoy a delicious homemade treat, with our compliments, from our wonderful bakers. Please do come along and help to share our celebrations next month. You will be most welcome.”
