ILKLEY musicians are doing extra practice this week because Saturday, July 10 will see the Ilkley Live festival bring music to the streets of Ilkley.
Ilkley Live is a garden music festival and was set up to celebrate the talent of the town, entertain the people of Ilkley and beyond and give everyone the chance to enjoy live music again.
Twelve acts are lined up to play at venues across town including four hours of music under cover at Riverside Gardens. It’s a varied line up, starting at 4pm with five acts playing at the same time. The festival will conclude at about 9pm.
The full programme will be available from La Stazione café on Friday and Saturday and also online on the festival Facebook page. There are also details on the Facebook event that does not require a Facebook login. Anyone interested just has to search for Ilkley Live.
Festival organiser Dan Hammond is delighted with the response. “As usual, the good people of Ilkley have been incredibly positive about the opportunity to take part in a community event.,” he said. “There is real excitement and I know that people will not be disappointed – the quality of the music will be excellent. People have even started to talk about next year’s event and we certainly have enough musicians interested to make that happen if the interest is there.”
Some COVID restrictions are in place so Dan asks that everyone adheres to the guidelines. “This is an unusual event that will involve groups in streets outside homes so will require everyone’s cooperation and consideration,” he added. “We are asking everyone to be aware of the COVID restrictions while watching the performers and also to think of others including pedestrians using the pavements.”
