WASHBURN Heritage Centre held a fundraising coffee morning in memory of one of its founder members, Philip Livesey, who lost his battle against cancer earlier this year.
A spokesperson for the the centre said: "The numbers were restricted at his funeral so many friends were not able to attend. Philip’s family therefore suggested that the Heritage Centre hold a coffee morning to celebrate Philip’s life and the proceeds be for Macmillan Cancer Support.
"Both Philip and his family were hugely appreciative of the work they do and the caring support they gave when the need was the greatest. The coffee morning was a most warm, welcoming and friendly occasion and we were proud that funds were raised in the sum of £1,400. Thank you to all our volunteers, cake-bakers, friends and members who supported the occasion.
"Philip was an enthusiastic promoter of Macmillan and took the lead in ensuring that the centre participated in the annual 'big coffee morning' in September, which we will be doing again next month on Friday 24."
