TWO ILKLEY businesses, Shoo Social Media and The Little Teahouse, are teaming up to host a Macmillan Coffee Morning outside the Shoo office in Ben Rhydding.

The charity event will take place from 8am to 11pm on Friday, September 24 in the social media marketing company’s wellness garden on Bolling Road.

The event is open to anyone who would like to call by to enjoy a drink and a piece of cake provided by the cafe and served up by a member of the Shoo team. There will also be optional cuddles on offer from Shoo’s office puppy, Cosmo.

The aim is to raise funds for a person affected by cancer to attend a health and wellbeing event, which will equip them with the skills to manage any challenges they may face.

It is one of many such events being held around the UK as part of the cancer support charity’s annual fundraiser, dubbed “The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning”. Since it started in 1990, Macmillan’s Coffee Morning has raised £290 million, bringing in £10 million in 2020 and the target is to top that this year.

Shoo’s Social Advertising Co-ordinator Fran Haigh, who is organising their event, said: “Here at Shoo, we’ve committed to giving 20 per cent of our time back to charity and, this year, we decided to use some of that time to host a Macmillan coffee morning outside our office.

"Like so many others, everyone in the Shoo team has lost somebody close to them to cancer, so we want to support and help those who are currently battling it.

“Anyone and everyone is welcome to pop by for a warm coffee and a scrummy slice of cake – perhaps to start the day on your way to work or to the shops. If you can’t joint us, but would still like to support the cause, any donations would be much appreciated.”
