SIGNS are to be put up on Lower Old Pool Bank to warn drivers about pedestrians in the road.
Adel and Wharfedale councillors Barry Anderson said:“I am pleased that Highways have been able to agree to these signs. It’s a small step in what is a much larger amount of work that needs done in the village but it’s definitely a worthwhile step to take. I was walking down from upper to lower Old Pool Bank myself just this last weekend, on Old Pool Bank, and it is unbelievable the amount of drivers who still don’t seem to appreciate the surroundings they are in and the care they should be taking by driving to the conditions and the terrain and to anticipate obstructions that might be ahead. Not only do pedestrians and cyclists use this road but there are the small offshoots to the various properties that are hidden from the view of a motorist and anyone trying to exit these properties cannot do so with full confidence. A sign to warn of pedestrians will definitely be worthwhile. If this proves successful I will try and get them installed on upper Old Pool Bank which is also suffering similar issues in terms of poor driving skills and a lack of awareness for the surroundings.
