THE ROTARY Club of Ilkley has made a donation to Ilkley and District Good Neighbours in recognition of its valuable work in the community.
Praising the charity, Rotary Club Vice President David Shaw said: “ Their work during the pandemic has been outstanding and we owe all their volunteers a debt of gratitude. This donation as part of the Immediate Past President Glynne Edwards chosen charity recognises the efforts they have made and will hopefully help with their work.”
The President’s wife Yvonne Edwards, who worked as a volunteer for the charity, added: “I know at first hand the extremely valuable work this special organisation carries out. The Rotary Club is pleased to have been involved with Good Neighbours from their beginnings, helping annually with events such as their Christmas Parcels scheme, amongst other things.”
The charity’s Chair Penny Coulthard said: We’re absolutely delighted to have been selected to receive this welcome donation of £350 in recognition of our services and our volunteers. The past year has been a challenging one, but organisations such as ours and the Rotary Club have continued supporting those in need in our community.
“Since the 1970’s Ilkley Good Neighbours has helped alleviate loneliness and supported the older and less able who live independently in the area, and enhance their lives. Donations such as this along with the efforts of our wonderful staff and volunteers mean that we can continue our good work.”
