ILKLEY Local History Hub will hold its first meeting for 2022, by zoom, this weekend.
The event will take place at 3pm on Saturday, January 29. There will be two zoom meetings before the group begins to alternate heritage walks followed by zoom.
The first meeting will be on Ilkley Past & Present. A presentation by Alex Cockshott followed by discussion will focus on the moorland slopes development of Ilkley after the land sales began at the end of the 1860s. Ilkley was laid out with new roads to accommodate the houses and bridges were built over the streams. The hub would like to hear from anyone with memories of Semon Home, Oaklands and Westwood Lodge.
A meeting on February 26 will look at the northern slopes above the Wharfe.
The meetings are free. Past attendees who have agreed will be sent the Zoom link. Others should pre-register at localhistory@civicsociety.ilkley.org.
