PUDSEY, Horsforth and Aireborough MP Stuart Andrew has been made housing minster in Boris Johnson's cabinet reshuffle.
Downing Street has announced that Mr Andrew will be a minister in the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities.
Mr Andrew was first elected as an MP in 2010 after serving as a Leeds City councillor since 2003.
Prior to the reshuffle he was deputy chief whip of the House of Commons and treasurer of HM Household.
The appointment has drawn criticism from Yorkshire Party Leader Bob Buxton, who said:"Stuart has been rewarded for his loyalty to a Prime Minister who, by his own admission, broke his own Covid laws. That's how Westminster politics works: you do the wrong thing, you put Party before country and you get rewarded."
"As Housing Minister, I hope he changes the Government's proposals to remove citizens' rights to object to planning applications. If these proposals are implemented, it will inevitably lead to greenbelt loss."
"I stand by what I said last week: any MP who does not call for the Prime Minister to resign is failing everyone who made sacrifices during the pandemic and should resign themselves. Boris Johnson's conduct goes from bad to worse, including the false slur against Sir Keir Starmer, and he is unworthy of office."
