GUISELEY AFC Community Foundation’s Beer Festival is back after being postponed in 2020 and 2021 due to Covid.

The event will take place at Coopers Bar on Otley Road, Guiseley, on Friday, March 4 and Saturday, March 5 and will raise funds for local charities.

An opening event for sponsors and VIPs will take place on the Friday lunchtime starting at 1pm with doors opening to the general public from 4pm until 11pm on Friday and from 1pm until 11pm on Saturday.

The Festival will be opened by Dave Jones, Butcher and Twitter personality, and is sponsored by Eversheds Sutherland (International) Ltd. Festivalgoers will be able to sample more than 20 craft beers plus ciders and wine.

All money raised will be used to fund a number of local causes - Aireborough Children's Centre, Friends of Nunroyd Park, Memory Lane Day Centre and the Guiseley Community Foundation.

Refreshments, including pie and peas, will be available throughout the event. Entry to the festival, which includes raffles and auctions, is by ticket only. Tickets cost £5 and include a souvenir glass and tokens for the first pint. Additional tokens for drinks or refreshments can be bought at any time during the festival.

Tickets will soon be available at Coopers Bar, Guiseley, or can be obtained online via the Guiseley AFC and Community Foundation websites.

The Chairman of Guiseley Community Foundation, Phil Rogerson, said:"We would like to thank our major sponsors Eversheds Sutherland (International) LLP, United Gas and Power, MMM Medical Supplies and 123 Dental of Guiseley and the companies who have all kindly sponsored barrels of beer."

In 2019 Guiseley Community Foundation raised £4,000 for local causes with its two day beer festival.

The event was described as a resounding success and raised money for AVSED, Action for Children, Memory Lane and Guiseley AFC Academy.

The beer festival has been taken over by the Foundation, the charitable arm of Guiseley AFC, from the now defunct Guiseley Lions Club.

Guiseley Community Foundation provides a number of activities for all ages within the local community, including soccer camps to coincide with school holidays. It provides a health education programme and a winter programme for older people. It also organises an annual foodbank collection. It uses the power of sport to help deliver a range of initiatives.
