A MAN with a 'flagrant disregard for court orders' has been jailed for 12 weeks for breaching a restraining order in Otley.

Adam Fairfoot Smith, 27, of Mount Street, Sheffield, appeared at Leeds Magistrates Court on Saturday, February 5, where he pleaded guilty to a charge of harassment - breach of a restraining order.

The charge related to an incident on February 3, 2022, when he made contact with a woman at The Broadwalk, Otley, when he was prohibited from doing so by a restraining order imposed by the Crown Court on May 22, 2018.

He was committed to prison for 12 weeks as magistrates deemed the offence was so serious because the defendant has "a flagrant disregard for court orders" because of his previous record.

He was also ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £128. There was no order to pay costs to the Crown Prosecution Service due to the prison sentence.

The defendant's guilty plea taken into account when imposing sentence.
