AN MP has spoken of his determination to help deliver the levelling up agenda after being made Housing Minister in Boris Johnson's cabinet reshuffle.
Pudsey, Horsforth and Aireborough MP Stuart Andrew said: "I’ve always had a keen interest in Housing and the Planning System, one which has developed during my time as a Member of Parliament, having had the opportunity to work with my constituents on these issues as a constituency MP.
"I’m extremely pleased to be able to work as Minister of State for Housing within the Department for Levelling Up, Communities and Housing as I want to ensure we truly Level Up, and I firmly believe that housing is rooted at the heart of this. Home ownership is central to social mobility, and it is my steadfast belief that everyone should have the opportunity to live in a good and safe home.
"Taking on this new role is an extremely exciting opportunity; while I am in no doubt that the role is a huge challenge, it’s an incredibly important one and I’ll be working hard to deliver this important agenda."
Mr Andrew was first elected as an MP in 2010 after serving as a Leeds City councillor since 2003.
Prior to the reshuffle he was deputy chief whip of the House of Commons and treasurer of HM Household.
