EIGHT people were issued with a ticket by police in the Leeds North West area yesterday for not wearing a seat belt.
The tickets were issues by Roads Policing Officers who were patrolling the Guiseley, Yeadon and Rawdon areas, tackling offences that make up the #Fatal4 as part of Operation SPARC. The #Fatal4 are: speeding; drink and drug driving; driving while distracted and non-wearing of seat-belts.
A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "A number of tickets were given out for various issues, but perhaps most concerning were 8 tickets issued for not wearing a seatbelt.
"It takes less than a second to clip a seatbelt into place and can be the difference between life and death in a crash."
Operation SPARC (Supporting Partnership Action to Reduce Road Casualties) is a project which addresses dangerous driving linked to fatal and high severity collisions. It also addresses anti-social driving.
