A COMMUNITY allotment group is looking for new members who want to learn about growing their own food and share the scheme's produce.

The Otley Community Allotment was developed by members of the Otley Community Land Trust at the Birdcage Walk allotment site in 2018.

A spokesperson said: "We have a small but dedicated group of members and are looking for new members to join us for the 2022 growing season. We always try to use environmentally sound and sustainable practices including protecting wildlife and biodiversity on the site, using organic growing methods, and eating seasonally. We grow fruit and vegetables throughout the year, including in our large greenhouse. We have monthly working groups and workshops such as hedgerow planting, mushroom growing and willow fence weaving.

"We hope to bring the community together to enjoy the health and wellbeing benefits of gardening by protecting and promoting the use of green spaces in Otley. We strive to create an atmosphere of inclusion and wellbeing by sharing knowledge, skills, resources and all the produce we grow."

The spokesperson added: "If you are interested in getting involved, whether you are an experienced gardener or complete novice, contact us at otleyallotment@gmail.com or on facebook https://en-gb.facebook.com/groups/OtleyCLT/"
