PLANS have been submitted to build nine apartments in an Otley mill conversion.

The application for part of Pool Business Park, on Pool Road, is for the change of use and alterations to the existing industrial mill to form nine residential units

The design and access statement submitted to Leeds City Council says: "The site is located in the Green Belt, bounded by the imposing Marton Mills, Pool Road and the River Wharfe. Marton Mills, Weidmann Whiteley, Pool Business Park and the recent workshop units opposite are a cluster of industrial units offering employment in a relatively low populated area."

It adds: "Converting part of the application site to residential space will complement the existing character of the mixed use site. With previous consent for glazing this could enhance the views on to the open setting of the riverside location, and views across to Otley Chevin. It is felt that the residential development, including a residential penthouse with a terrace would enhance the residential offering, taking full advantage of the views to the north and the south whilst preserving the original character of the building."
