THE bittersweet Australian coming-of-age romance Babyteeth is Ilkley Film Society's next screening on Sunday, April 24 (8pm, Ilkley Playhouse).

When 16 year-old Milla brings home her new boyfriend, every parent's worst nightmare seems to have come true – Moses is an unemployed drug addict, considerably older than Milla. However, there is an additional complication: Milla is in remission from cancer, with a very uncertain future, and is blissfully happy with her first love. Her parents have to ask themselves if they have a right to bar Moses from Milla's probably short life when he is such a source of joy to her.

With superb performances from Home And Away star Eliza Scanlen as Milla and top Australian actors Essie Davis and Ben Mendelsohn as her parents, this sensitive and emotionally enthralling debut film from director Shannon Murphy was a big hit at the Venice and London film festivals.

Non-members are welcome as guests but should phone Dave Howell on 01943 430097 to reserve tickets (£4).
