WASHBURN Heritage Centre's new programme 'A Summer of Words' will start at the beginning of June, running through to September.
Organisers say a rich and varied programme, featuring walks, talks, suppers, visits, workshops and events will showcase the best of Yorkshire authors, poets and playwrights. The programme includes two recent Poets Laureate, two Booker Prize winners, as well as Costa Awards and Silver Dagger Awards.
A spokesperson said: "The list goes on - from the first recorded English poet, Caedmon, to York born novelist Kate Atkinson and Jill Liddington of Gentleman Jack fame.
"Check out our website washburnvalley.org or ring 01943 880794 to book or for further information. Early booking recommended as our events always prove very popular. Of course, our renowned tea rooms will also be open on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the summer."
The Centre is used for many things but its key purpose is to promote the unique heritage of the Washburn Valley.
