THOUSANDS of pounds have been raised following the tragic death of a much-loved dad.
Dean Miles, 49, from Horsforth, was killed in a crash last Thursday.
In the days following his death, a fundraising campaign was launched to give “the perfect send-off for the ‘King of Horsforth’”.
The initial target was £6,000, but that has been smashed and the current total currently stands at more than £12,000.
A message on the fundraising page says: “Dean who was loved by many, and touched so many people’s hearts, was tragically taken from us recently. We are going to miss his infectious personality, his love for telling stories, and most of all his loyalty for both friends and family.
“The news is absolutely devastating but I’m sure Dean wouldn’t want people to shed too many tears as he was so full of life.
“Dean was the perfect father to three beautiful children, Alfred, Maisy and Lily.
“His close friends would like to raise money to make sure Dean is given a send-off that would be fit for a king.
“All donations will contribute towards his funeral and any remaining funds will be passed to his mother Carol for a permanent memorial so friends and family have a place to visit.”
Scores of touching tributes have been left on the page alongside the donations.
One said: “Dean it has been a pleasure working with you. I’ll miss your words of wisdom and support they’ve helped me more than you will ever know, sending lots of love to all you family.”
Another said: “You only have to read all these comments to see how respected and loved you were. A tragic loss to all who knew you. What an absolute top man.”
After his death, a family tribute described Dean as full of life - the perfect father who was devoted to his children.
Dean was pronounced dead at the scene, on the A6120 Ring Road in Horsforth, after he was in collision with a silver Skoda Fabia at around 1.50pm on May 12
The driver of the vehicle, a 24-year-old man, suffered minor injuries.
He was released on bail pending further enquiries.
The Major Collision Enquiry Team appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident, or anyone who was in the area between Horsforth roundabout and Rodley roundabout between 1.30pm and 2pm or who may have dashcam footage of what happened prior to the collision to get in touch.
Anyone with information is asked to contact MCET on 101, or by using the LiveChat on the West Yorkshire Police website, quoting log 0840 of May 12.
