COUNCILS in the district are celebrating in being awarded the Green Flag award for a number of their parks and gardens.
Darwin Gardens Millennium Green in Ilkley, managed by Ilkley Town Council, is one of the recipients and has now accumulated 16 awards since 2005. has once again.
Managed by Ilkley Town Council, Darwin Gardens on the edge of Ilkley Moor is one of 1555 celebrating success, others locally include Otley's Chevin Country Park.
Ilkley councillor Joanne Sugden said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive the Green Flag Award again this year and are very proud of our record of improvements to the gardens over the years. These will continue with some exiting new developments planned this year.
Leeds City Council has also once again received the Green Flag award for seven of its parks and green spaces, including Otley Chevin Forest Park, Golden Acre Park, Kirkstall Abbey, Middleton Park, Pudsey Park, Roundhay Park and Temple Newsam Estate.
