A TREE will be planted in a north Leeds park to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II, city bosses have revealed.
The tree will be seeded in Golden Acre Park in Bramhope, near to one that was planted in March this year to celebrate Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee.
It is the first confirmed civic tribute to the late Queen in Leeds, but other permanent memorials are likely to follow.
The naming of a street, building or public space after the UK’s longest-serving monarch are all under consideration.
A permanent display cabinet, possibly featuring photos and memorabilia of the Queen on visits to Leeds, is also being explored.
The news was confirmed in a report which went before senior councillors at a meeting on Wednesday.
