PUPILS at Burley Oaks Primary School discovered the joy of giving this festive season.
Instead of receiving a present from Father Christmas when he visited the school in Langford Lane, Burley-in-Wharfedale, the children gave presents as part of a Reverse Santa appeal
Headteacher Mrs Claire Lee said: "We were blown away by the generosity of our families and real community spirit. The children were so proud.
"We had an inflatable grotto and invited Santa. The children gave him a present instead of receiving one. These have been split between Wharfedale Refugee Response (for both children and parents), our local care home, Love Burley volunteers (people who do so much to support others in our community and deserve some recognition) and also vulnerable members of our community.
"Our aim is to support the mental health and wellbeing of our wider community and in doing so, children have experienced 'giving' which has a positive impact on their mental health too."
