THE first meeting of a new menopause café/chat group will be held on February 8th, from 7pm-8.30pm at Guiseley Theatre.
It is open to anyone who is approaching, going through or has emerged from menopause, at any age, and will offer peer support, friendship and evidence-based information.
Cllr Eleanor Thomson, (Lab, Guiseley and Rawdon) said: "I decided to start the group as I'm in my late 40s, have had early stage breast cancer and know lots of women have found it hard to access the support they need.
"Symptoms of (peri)menopause can be frightening and are sometimes dismissed as anxiety or depression. Women's health isn't well understood and isn't talked about enough, but when we gather together and learn from each other, we're better informed and better equipped to move into a new phase of life."
