A PERSON was taken to hospital with head injuries this afternoon following a collision involving two vehicles - believed to be a lorry and a car - on the A59 at Blubberhouses.
Emergency services, including a crew from Harrogate Fire Station, and an air ambulance attended the collision, which happened at just after 3pm, at the Otley turn off. Diversions were in place for a while.
Firefighters removed a door of one of the vehicles, freeing a trapped occupant so they could be treated at the scene before being taken to hospital.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Crews from Harrogate responded to a report of a two vehicle road traffic collision that resulted in one casualty being trapped in their vehicle.
"Crews made both vehicles safe and removed the door of one vehicle to allow paramedics access to the trapped casualty.
"Crews assisted in extricating the casualty, who was suffering head injuries, before handing them into the care of ambulance crews to be transported to hospital."
