AFTER many years at the helm as the Chairman of the Otley Branch of the Royal British Legion Mr Mac Emmitt has decided it is time to take a step back and retire from the position in office but he will still be attending branch meetings. The new Chairman is Mr Adrian Waites who is also the Branch Standard Bearer.

A spokesperson said: "The Branch would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Emmitt for all the work and dedication he has put in over the years with us and we look forward to seeing him in a less formal position. November's Poppy Appeal in the Town raised to date the sum of £20,649.25 with some funds still to come in. We couldn't have done it without everyone's help and the Branch thank you all for your very generous support.
